08 Feb Crate Diggin’ – Japanese Blue Note Vinyl
A small sample of the selection of Japanese Blue Note Vinyl to be found at Aux 33 Tours record store in Montreal, Canada. There is also a pretty solid selection of audiophile Blue Note pressings in the mix as well. I personally look for original Blue Note pressings over Japanese pressings but they are much harder to come by, especially in good condition. And when you do find them in good condition they demand a hefty price tag.
The Japanese Blue Note pressings aren’t cheap but they are much more affordable then the original Blue Note pressings. They are also excellent quality pressings for the most part based on what I have read. The best part is that they are often in pristine condition. I rarely see a Japanese pressing that isn’t in Near Mint condition.
Not only is Aux 33 tours the best record store in Montreal it is probably the best record store I have been to in my life. I havent been all over the world digging through dusty crates but I have been to stores in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Vermont, NYC, London, and Ann Arbor, Michigan. 33 tours has the biggest selection for every genre and the process are usually more than fair. There is the odd record that I feel is overpriced but many are priced less than you would find online which is not usually the case.
I show John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy, Art Blakey, Lee Morgan, Donald Byrd, Hank Mobley, Kenny Dorham, Sonny Rollins and Jackie Mclean.
If there are any artists you would like me to show in my next video let me know and I will check it out.
